Bluenose is a ship that was originally designed by William Roué and built by the shipyard Smith and Rhuland in Lunenburg, the vessel was launched at Lunenburg in Nova Scotia and was used as both for fishing and as a racing ship. The Bluenose is a sleek ship that is designed for racing and has a length of 145 feet, the ship proved as an excellent vessel and she brought the International Fisherman’s trophy to Nova Scotia, for 17 years she retained the trophy without any challengers, the racing successes gave her the title the Queen of the North Atlantic. The vessel is exhibited on the Lunenburg waterfront in the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, Bluenose II is the replica of Bluenose which serves as a tourist attraction in Lunenburg.
