Travelling to Nova Scotia

There are a few ways you can travel to Nova Scotia, you could either fly to Halifax International Airport, catch a Bay Ferries ferry or travel on a Via Rail train to Halifax, whichever way you choose to travel you will see lot's of picturesque scenery on your journey to Nova Scotia.

Travelling to Nova Scotia by air is relatively easy thanks to the strategic location of Halifax International Airport, this airport connects towns in eastern part of Canada and the northeastern parts of the United States to other parts of the globe. Halifax International Airport has since undergone major rehabilitations to reflect and accommodate the increasing number of flights in and out of here.

Halifax International Airport receives several airlines from Canada and the world alike, airlines like Canjet and Westjet connect the US and Canada, Air Canada also operates Tango, Jazz and Zip and operates through Canada, US and internationally as well. The continental Airline operates from the US to Halifax connecting through Newark, NJ, Delta Airlines operates from the US to Halifax, connecting through Detroit, MI. Nova Scotia is also serviced with regularly scheduled flights from continental Europe, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom and Iceland.

Travelling to Nova Scotia by Sea.

Why Travel by land when it is relatively cheaper to travel to Nova Scotia by Sea, there are a host of comfortable car ferry trips that connect Maine, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Newfoundland to Nova Scotia. Travelling to Nova Scotia by sea is even a lot easier because Nova Scotia is also part of the Canada/New England Corridor and thus major cruise lines visit ports in Nova Scotia usually between early may and late October.

Marine Atlantic Reservations operate between Port-aux-Basques in Newfoundland and North Sydney and to Nova Scotia during Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, mid June to mid October. Northumberland Ferries Ltd operates from Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island, to Caribou and Nova Scotia. Bay ferries Limited operate daily all year-round service from Saint John in New Brunswick to Digby and Nova Scotia.

Travelling to Nova Scotia by Land.

There are various options of getting there by land there are Bus and Rail services available, major access to Nova Scotia by car is from United States through Maine. The major route to Nova Scotia is from Bangor Maine through east on Route 9 to Calas, from Maine passing through St.Stephen, New Brunswick where you will pick up Route1, and just follow Route 1 along the east coast of New Brunswick until you reach Nova Scotia. Another Route by Bus is by Greyhound from New York and Voyageur from Montreal will then connect you with Acadian Lines in Nova Scotia, getting to Nova Scotia by Rail use Via Rail that offers train services six days a week. They operate between Montreal and Halifax with stops along the way, the Trip costs around $130 and takes approximately 20 hours to complete.
